The Site of Hexian Man in the Longtan Cave

The Site of Hexian Man is on the northern slope of the Wangjia Mountain of Taodian, 45 kilometers away from the northwestern Hexian County laying in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River between the Sites of Beijing Man and Java Man. The discovery of the skull of Hexian Man in the county provided an important physical basis for the study of the origin and development of human beings, the study of the similarities and differences of ancient human in the South and the North, as well as the exploration of the origin of Chinese culture and the development history of the coastal areas of the Yangtze River. In January 1988, the Site of Hexian Man was approved by the State Council to be an important heritage site under state protection.

The Lingjiatan Site

The Lingjiatan Site, located at the north bank of the Yuxi River’s middle section in Tongzha Town of Hanshan County, is a 5,300-year-old large settlement of the late Neolithic Period. The site was rated among China’s ten new archaeological discoveries in 1998 and qualified itself for national preservation under the approval of the State Council in 2001. In 2006, it was included in the 100 major sites in the overall plan for the protection of large sites during the country’s “Eleventh Five Year Plan” period.

Caishiji

Caishiji was named Niuzhuji in ancient times. With a high cliff over the river, the towering Cuiluo Mountain is blessed with majestic, marvelous, grotesque and beautiful scenery. Li Bai, a prominent romantic poet of the Tang Dynasty, frequented here to get inspiration for his poems, many of which were later widely read, including Night Mooring under Mount Niuzhu. Many fascinating legends about Li Bai were also passed down from generation to generation, like “jumping into the river to catch the moon”, “flying to the moon on a whale”. Being a national key scenic area as well as a 5A Tourist Attraction in China, Caishiji is dotted with many natural and cultural landscapes, including the Taibai Building, the Sanyuan Cave, the Libai Memorial Hall, the Santai Pavilion, the Guangji Temple, the Myriad-bamboo Dock, the Yan Garden, the Lin Sanzhi Art Gallery, the Cuiluo Bay and so on. It’s a great attraction for the people who want to climb mountains and get close to river or those who want to search for seclusion and beautiful scenery.

The Li Bai Cultural Park

Li Bai Cultural Park is an important heritage site under state protection and a 4A Tourist Attraction in China. It lies in the west foot of the Qingshan Mountain in Taibai Town, Dangtu County, Anhui Province. In the Park, cultural scenic spots centered on Li Bai’s Tomb—an important heritage site under state protection with the theme of eco tourism and cultural tourism. The Park has become a comprehensive scenic spot integrating recreation and entertainment, Li Bai’s poems and calligraphic works, landscape art and remembrance of the great poet Li Bai. It is also part of Li Bai Cultural Tourist Route together with Caishiji and the Tianmenshan Mountain.
